A variant of the EMD SD40-2, the SD40T-2 was designed with a special ventilation configuration which allows its diesel prime mover to 'breathe' easier in tunnels. Initially the locomotives were deployed in the Western U.S. on the Southern Pacific and Denver & Rio Grande Western during the 1970s. In the following decade, Union Pacific acquired units from both railroads through company mergers. More recently, some units have been rebuilt and resold to Eastern operations as well. Our Collector's Edition features SP, D&RGW and UP models, with intricate details, custom sounds and cab views and smooth operation for your heaviest trains!  Installation README
